I love running. It's been a passion of mine for a few years now. I'm quite the running geek, too, as I enjoy reading magazines and books about the sport. As I've read, I've seen numerous stories of people who have raised money for some charitable cause. Thus, we find Run 4 Haiti.

Presently, Ryan Akers is training for two half-marathons: the Sam Costa Half-Marathon on March 27 in Carmel, Indiana, and the Indianapolis Mini-Marathon on May 8, in Indianapolis, Indiana. The newest addition to the Run 4 Haiti team is Alan Skiles, pastor at the Victory Free Will Baptist Church in Jackson, Tennessee. Alan will be running the Andrew Jackson Half-Marathon on April 17.

We am asking for any individuals, churches, youth groups...anyone who wants to get involved to join the team by supporting Run 4 Haiti. Every single penny that is donated goes straight to Mountain Faith Mission. This money will help improve the lives of thousands of people on the central plateau of Haiti. Our goal is to get donations of $1 a mile for a total of $13 per half-marathon and $26 for any full marathons. We also welcome flat, one-time donations.

Through your donation, you will be supplying food during the annual Vacation Bible School in September 2010. 100% of the funds raised is turned straight over to Mountain Faith Mission in order to help fund VBS. In 2009, over 550 people were fed at least two meals each day. With the recent earthquake, this has driven prices up even further, making food very expensive in the area. Your donation will help buy rice, beans, meat, flour, and numerous other gifts for students who attend in 2010. Please consider donating, or raising support in your local area!

Follow our training for the races by reading the Run 4 Haiti blog.
